Larry Mann Death – My father, Larry Mann, passed away unexpectedly last week, and it is with a sad heart that I share the devastating news with you. The absence of his presence in our lives has left a significant hole. An individual with a one-of-a-kind spirit, Larry was a free spirit who was driven by a passion for discovery and adventure.

His varied résumé included a number of noteworthy accomplishments, such as being a world record holder for jumping from a motorcycle during a thrill show, being a sound editor who won an Emmy Award, and being a renowned member of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences. He was a cherished father to four children, which was the most important of all his accomplishments.

Larry was a humble man who barely ever mentioned the many victories he had achieved in his life. He favored living a life that was “off the grid,” in which he was always looking for new adventures or spending time with new friends in his favorite tavern. He had just recently retired and was beginning a new chapter in his life by moving to Ruidoso, New Mexico, with his absolutely amazing girlfriend Lisa.

When I was there not too long ago, I could feel his affection for the location. In other words, it was a setting that reflected the spirit of Larry, and it resonated with the essence of who he was. In the short period of time that had passed since Larry’s relocation from California, he had already established profound connections with the local community.

Over the course of the weekend, my siblings and I had the opportunity to meet his newest friends. We were affected by the warm comments and humorous anecdotes that demonstrated the impact he had on people who were in his immediate vicinity. Your absence has left an unimaginable vacuum in my life.

And I will always treasure the memories of your one-of-a-kind “Larry-isms” and contagious laughter. This love and spirit of yours will live on in our hearts forever. I adore you, and even though you are no longer with us, your legacy will continue to be carried on by the countless others whose lives you changed.
